Accueil / Types of wallpaper

The types of wallpaper stick to us! Printed, embossed, plain, the wallpaper allows itself all the fantasies. In just a few seasons, it has become a decorating must-have, enhancing a living room as well as a bedroom or a bathroom. Over the years, the composition of wallpaper has changed to meet our needs and our lifestyle. Gone are the days of glue-covered strips that would tear at the slightest movement. Nowadays, wallpaper can be washed, repositioned, pre-pasted, adhesive or even magnetic and can be used in any room of the house.

THE CLASSIC WALLPAPER

Among the different types of wallpaper, we find the traditional wallpaper and, certainly, the most economical but also the most fragile. Composed of sheets of paper, it does not stand up well to busy rooms like the living room and even less to the humidity of a bathroom.

INTISSE WALLPAPER

The non-woven wallpaper is a wall covering made of polyester fibers, cellulose arranged in a sheet, covered with a layer of vinyl. Its thickness, thus its solidity and its weight (weight of the paper to the m²) are intended for the damaged walls, even irregular. The more its weight is important, the more it hides the imperfections of the support. Compatible with wet rooms: waterproof and washable, it can be installed in the bathroom and other wet rooms.

THE WALLPAPER TO PAINT

If your walls have cracks, holes or are poorly coated, the best option is to use paintable wallpaper. Ideal for renovations, this high-coverage material is thicker and therefore more resistant than traditional or non-woven paper. It gives a second life to damaged walls, whether you choose a perfectly smooth or patterned roll. And when it comes to color, it's up to you to choose the paint that will dress up this paper.

VINYL WALLPAPER

On the floor as well as on the walls, vinyl is very popular! It is composed of a paper or non-woven back, with a face always covered with a slightly foamy layer of PVC. If you are looking for resistance or coverage, choose a grained vinyl. Very dense, it can withstand the knocks of a door in a hallway or the rubbing of a dining room chair. For a vinyl paper with details and relief, it is better to turn to the expanded.

WASHABLE WALLPAPER

Dare to use wallpaper in the bathroom or children's room, with washable wallpaper you no longer have to worry about small stains or moisture. The washable papers are composed of a layer of non-woven or thick vinyl. Soapy water or a very mild detergent is all that is needed to remove a few unwanted marks. Beware, the washable wallpaper - as innovative as it is - has its limits: do not scrub with a hard brush or you risk damaging the paper.
